Renate Maria Adamson of Muskogee, Oklahoma June 13, 1938 – February 8, 2019 Mrs. Renate Maria Adamson, 80 of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, February 7th, 2019 in Kansas City, MO. Renate, daughter of the late Paul and Katherina (Marakovic) Winter, was born on June 13, 1938 in Stara-Palanka Yugoslavia. Renate was a small child during WWII.

Her family fled their home in Augsburg Germany, by foot, making their way to Vienna, Austria where they lived with family for 6 years. When the war was over, they returned to Augsburg where she remained until she met the love of her life, A decorated US Army Soldier by the name of Don B. Adamson. Don spotted “The prettiest girl in Augsburg” while sitting in a train station, “It was love at first sight”.

The two married on October 19th, 1957. Once married they lived in Fayetteville, NC, Orleans, France, Leesville, LA, Berlin, Germany, Marina, CA, and in 1979 finally settled in Muskogee, OK. It was Orleans, France where Renate developed a lifelong passion for Antiques.

Once in Muskogee, Renate owned and operated Mid America Antique Mall and Renate’s Antiques on 69 Hwy. It was at Mid America Antique Mall where Renate met some of her favorite celebrities: Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, and Steven Tyler who sang to her throughout his visit. He was shopping for jewelry and was kind enough to sign one of her Elvis Albums since she didn’t own any by Aerosmith.

Renate was a breast cancer survivor. She attributed her healing to her love of God and her Catholic faith. She also had many passions which included fishing, cooking, gardening, pets, and spending time with her family.

Renate was preceded in death by her loving husband, Don Adamson; granddaughter, Elaine Marcum; parents Paul & Katherina Winter; brothers, Paul and Wilhelm; and sister Olga Winter. Renate is survived and celebrated by her daughters, Renee Macomber and husband Steve of KCMO, Donna Marcum of Deming, NM; son, Tyrone Adamson and wife Lydia of Muskogee, OK; grandsons, Michael Moats and wife Laura of Roeland Park KS, James Marcum of Broken Arrow, OK; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 between 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Bradley Belltower Chapel in Muskogee OK.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 13th, 2019 at Greenhill Cemetery, St. Joseph Catholic section. In Lieu of flowers, donations to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) would be greatly appreciated. Services are under the direction of Bradley Funeral and Cremation Services.
