Rhonda Kay Dampier Moorefield, 63, died Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Mission Hospital after a long fight with cancer. She was born December 5, 1954 in Orlando, FL to Irma J Dampier and the late William E. Dampier. She is survived by her mother Irma, her husband Tim C. Moorefield, her daughter Claudia Honeycutt (Ken) and grandson Addison Honeycutt of Durham; her son Layne Register of Asheville, her step-children Jake Moorefield of Boise, ID, Sam Moorefield of Puerto Rico, and Mindy Holder of Wilmington, NC; brother, Michael Dampier of Mill Spring; two sisters, Judy Lewis and Nancy Blewett both of Fairview.

She is also survived by six Moorefield grandchildren and many much-loved nephews and nieces. Rhonda grew up in central Florida, graduating from high school in Lakeland, FL and working for Publix Super Markets before moving to NC. She is a graduate of Western Carolina University with a Bachelor’s Degree, and Stetson University in St. Petersburg, FL with a law degree.

Upon graduation from Stetson she moved back to NC to practice law in Buncombe County where she was both a lawyer and a mediator. She served twice as president of the Board of Directors of Altrusa District 3 and was an active member of Biltmore Church of Christ in Asheville and was very supportive of church and youth activities. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 27 at 11:00 A.M. at Biltmore Church of Christ, with friends and family being greeted beginning at 10:00 A.M. Matt Goodman and Jim Hunter will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort, Inc, P.O. Box 111180/410 Allied Dr., Nashville, TN, 37211-1180. Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the family.
