Obituary for Richard A. LaRosa Richard A. LaRosa, Esq. Richard Anthony LaRosa, 70, of Rossville, Staten Island, died April 24th 2018. Richard passed away in the early morning of April 24th in the comfort of his home after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Joanne, his daughter Noelle Artherholt (husband Jeffrey), son David (wife Caroline), and 5 grandchildren that he loved dearly (Julia, Jason, Madeline, Richard James, and Henry). Richard was born in Brooklyn but spent the majority of his life living and working in Staten Island. He was a graduate of Wagner College, and received a law degree from Brooklyn Law School.

He practiced Law in New York since 1973 and was a Partner in the Law Firm of Passarello & LaRosa, Esqs, with expertise in Matrimonial, Family, and Criminal Law, and was Counsel to the Public Administrator of Richmond County. He was an active member of the New York State Bar Association and Richmond County Bar Association and was a member of the New York Committee on Character and Fitness, a duty he greatly enjoyed by meeting and interviewing attorney applicants to the New York State Bar. Richard personified the aphorism “if you love your job, you never work a day in your life”.

He loved being a Lawyer, and helped clients, colleagues, friends and family with vigor and integrity. He will be remembered for his honorable character, his generosity, and his warm smile. His absence will be sorely felt by all that knew him and were helped by him, because you could always count on Richard to be by your side when you needed him – a true counselor and advocate.

He will be especially missed by his adoring wife, family and grandchildren, which he enjoyed so much and renewed his spirit. Visitation for family, friends, and colleagues will be at Scalia Funeral Home, Eltingville, Thursday April 26, 7 to 9 pm and Friday April 27, 2 to 5 PM, and 7 to 9 PM. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Thomas Church, 6097 Amboy Road, on Saturday April 28 at 9:30 AM.
