Richard Allen Sloan, Sr. Allen Sloan, age 82 of Baker, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018. He was born in Baldwin County, AL on January 23, 1936. Richard served his country in the United Sates Army for 2 years and the United States Army Reserves for 6 years.

Richard loved making syrup, working outside, building projects and loved the NWF Speedway. He owned and operated Sloan’s grocery for 27 years Richard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Sloan. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lynda Sloan, daughters: Lisa Atcher and husband Andrew, Traci Mitchell and husband George, Son: Richard Sloan and wife Kaci, grandchildren: Christopher, Bryana, Brandi, Ali.

A time of visitation will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 from 12:30-2:00pm at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 2:00pm at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Cotton Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Winston Beasley, Scott Sessions, Britt Corbin, Jimmy Holland, Lee Holland, George Mitchell, and Andrew Atcher. Honorary Pallbearers will be Douglas Oglesby and Thomas Smith.
