Richard Bernard Spears, age 74, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019. Richard was born on August 23, 1944 to parents Earl and Alfreda (Daugherty) Spears and was raised in Ann Arbor with his three brothers. He worked for Spears Fire and Safety Service for almost 55 years.

Richard enjoyed volunteering at the Pittsfield Township Fire Department. He also enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, and enjoying the companionship of his beloved dog, KD. Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Donna Spears; his sons, Mark (Laura) Spears and Scott Spears; his grandchildren, Nicholas (Kayla Raymond) Spears, Alex Spears, Andrew Brenner, and Austin Brenner; and his brother, Earl (Rebecca) Spears.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Alfreda Spears and his brothers, Robert Spears and James Spears. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 11-1pm at Nie Family Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor. A funeral service will take place at 1 pm.
