Rosemary Strieter, a life-long resident of Ann Arbor, passed away on February 11, 2019, in Brighton, MI. She was 94 years old. Born January 19, 1925, in Ann Arbor, she was the daughter of Martin and Flora (Hiller) Schlenker.

Rosemary’s Schlenker family were long-time Ann Arbor residents operating Schlenker Hardware for over 100 years until it closed in 1995. Rosemary attended Bach Elementary, Slauson Middle School and graduated from Ann Arbor High School. She then attended the University of Michigan for two years.

In 1946, Rosemary married Robert R. Strieter at Bethlehem United Church of Christ. She worked many years as an accountant for her husband’s business. She loved to knit, knitting hundreds of scarves throughout the years.

She enjoyed summering at her lakehouse near Hamburg, MI. Rosemary was a life-long member of the Bethlehem United Church of Christ. Most of all she was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her four children, John R. “Jack” Strieter, Robert M. Strieter, Mary Ann Varterasian and Karen Strieter Flynn; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert R. Strieter, one brother Martin Schlenker, her twin sister Flora Mae Schlenker-Hancock and sister in law Betty Strieter Colvin. In memory of Rosemary, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem United Church of Christ, 423 S. 4th Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.
