OBITUARY Richard David Williams October 26, 1948 – September 10, 2018 Richard David Williams, age 69, of Fulton, Missouri passed away on September 10, 2018. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson City, Missouri. Richard was born on October 26, 1948 in Hamilton, Montana to Clarence and Blanche Thornburg Ruedin who preceded him in death.

He was married on May 15, 1982 in Lambertville, Michigan to Connie Edwards and she survives. Richard was a graduate of Stephens High School in Half Day, Illinois. After high school he attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Several years later he received his Associates Degree in Computer Science from Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri. Richard spent nine years in the Navy in nuclear submarines and teaching at the Nuclear Training school. After leaving the Navy he worked as a contract nuclear worker at Millstone 1 & 2 Nuclear Stations in Waterford, Connecticut and also at Connecticut Yankee Nuclear Station in Haddam Neck, Connecticut before permanently settling to work at Callaway Nuclear Station until his retirement in 2007.

He volunteered at the Mid Missouri Tourism Center and the Firefighters Memorial in Kingdom City, Missouri. He volunteered with the Freedom Riders that escorted the Honor Flight bus from Kingdom City, Missouri to Columbia by keeping the tourism center open for the riders. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson City, Missouri and was a charter member of the Elijah Gates Camp #570 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans of Callaway County.

Richard was active in Civil War Reenactments and he loved to read and study American History. In addition to his wife of 36 years, Connie, he is also survived by one son, David Williams of Columbia and one brother, Scott Williams of Sunny Hills, Florida. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Williams.
