Richard S. “Dick” DeLong, 79, of Woodland Avenue, Johnsonburg, PA, died, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Bradford Manor, after a lengthy illness. A son of the late Vern & Lavina (Davies) DeLong, he was born in Punxsutawney on August 3, 1938. On October 19, 2013, he married Barbara (Laughner) who survives in Johnsonburg.

Also surviving are his children, Rich (Margie) DeLong of Kane, Todd (Robin) DeLong of Wilcox, Vern DeLong of Johnsonburg and Ava (Bob) Yeager of Johnsonburg; step children, Debbie (Mickey) Delhunty of Portland Mills, Jeff Morgan of Wilcox and Stacy Sorg of Johnsonburg; grandchildren, Evan, Erik, Andy, Colton (Mario Seneca), Jason, Nicole, Dylan, Jennylin and nine step-grandchildren; and a sister, JoAnn (Paul) Gnan of Johnsonburg. Besides his parents, Dick was predeceased by his first wife, Jenny (Lind) DeLong and two grandchildren, Dalton and Eden Yeager. Dick was a Mail Carrier for the Johnsonburg USPS for ten years and has owner and operated R.S. DeLong and Son carvings for over forty years, where he has sold carvings all over the world.

He was instrumental in the legalization of antique slot machines in PA and a member of the 1957 undefeated Johnsonburg football team. He enjoyed hunting, traveling and driving his antique cars. He lived most of his life in Johnsonburg.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home, Johnsonburg, PA. Funeral services will be held, 5:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home with Reverend Brad Brunner. Interment will take place in the Wardvale Methodist Cemetery.
