Richard E. “Dick” Conwell, 84, of Kokomo, went home to be with the Lord at 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning at his residence. He was born December 10, 1933 in Howard County to Earl H. and Frances M. (Rice) Conwell. He married Nancy E. Butler July 1, 1955 in Kokomo and she survives.

Dick worked for Continental Steel in Kokomo for 33 years. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a 25-year member of the Kokomo V.F.W. Post 1152.

He enjoyed fishing and watching court shows on television. He enjoyed umpiring for the Northwest Little League in Kokomo for several years. Surviving family include his wife, Nancy Conwell, Kokomo; his children, Rick Allen Conwell, Tipton; Melanie J. Dotterer, Galveston; and Ellen (Glen) Scott, Rochester.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, Autumn (Tim) Farr, Kokomo; Bailey Scott, Rochester; Taylor Dotterer, Galveston; Redmon Conwell, Tipton; one great granddaughter, Hannah Mallard Kokomo; three sisters, Jeanie Wright, Kokomo; Phyllis Scott, Kokomo; and Carolyn Chamberlane, Maynardville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16th at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Rev.

Jerry Ausbrook officiating. Burial will follow at Galveston Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 pm Wednesday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.
