Virgil K. Achey, 86, of Walton, passed away at his home early Monday morning, September 24, 2018. He was born October 5, 1931 to Nile K. and Margaret J. (Mumaugh) Achey. On April 10, 1968, he married Betty Louise Roberts in Onward.

She preceded him in death on February 5, 2013. Virgil graduated from Onward High School and then went to the International Business College in Ft. Wayne and earned his degree in Business Administration.

He retired from Chrysler in Kokomo with 38 years service. He was a member of Walton Christian Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and his cars. Virgil was a proud veteran serving his country in the United States Army.

Surviving family include his children, Fonda and Fritz Weis, Monon, IN; Brenda Denny, Logansport, IN; and Virgil K. Achey Jr He is also survived by grandchildren, Gwen Weis, Teresa Weis, Mary Cole Weis, Jerome Virgil Weis, Brittany Nichole Denny, Christian Darrell Denny, Bailey Denny, Christopher Achey, and Kyle Achey. Eleven great grandchildren also survive along with one brother Steve Achey of Peru, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, grandson Kevin and two great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2018 at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Rev. Bill Collins officiating.

Burial will follow at Onwards Deer Creek Cemetery in Onward with military honors. Visitation will be held from 2 – 6 p.m. Sunday, September 30that the funeral home. Murray Weaver Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
