Richard James Phillips Sr., 80, of Ft. Myers, FL, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Formerly of Royal Oak, MI, he had been a Ft.

Myers resident since 2015. He was born May 11, 1938 in Pontiac, MI, the son of Howard and Dorothy Kathleen (née Smith) Phillips. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

He enjoyed golfing and fishing as well as collecting and shooting guns. Mr. Phillips is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sharon Marie (née Belenky) Phillips; his beloved children, Richard James (Rene) Phillips Jr. of Royal Oak, MI, David Matthew (Angela) Phillips of Holly, MI and Julie Lynn Phillips of Ft. Myers, FL; and three cherished grandchildren, Taylor Phillips, Colin Phillips and Lauren Warner.

Burial with graveside services and Military Honors will take place at a later date at the Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the veterans charity of your choice. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home – Family Owned Since 1978.
