Robert James Dettmer, of Bovey, MN and Bonita Springs, FL, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019. He had been a seasonal resident of Bonita Springs for the last ten years. He was born May 22, 1943 in Friendship, WI, the son of William Frederick and Beverly (née Ottesen) Dettmer.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed both his time up in Minnesota fishing and previously farming. His winters in Florida were important for him socially with all the good friends he had made in Bonita Springs.

Mr. Dettmer is survived by his loving sons, Robert (Lori) Dettmer of Goodland, MN and Alan (Amy) Dettmer of Grand Rapids, MN; his sisters and brothers, Willetta (Arlan) Carpenter of Oconomowoc, WI and Fred (Denise) Dettmer of Waterford, WI and Bonita Springs, FL, Sherry (Mark) Meinhardt of Sullivan, WI, Chester (Marie) Edwards of Mukwonago, WI, Nancy (bob) O’Neil of Pewaukee,WI; and one cherished granddaughter, Ether Dettmer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen Mary (née Kopecky) Dettmer in 2013. Services and burial with Military Honors will take place in Minnesota.
