Richard L. “Dick” Peiffer, Sr., of Kittanning, passed away on October 30, 2018 peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot. He now leaves this world having suffered with Lung Fibrosis, may he rest in peace. Dick was born in Marion Center, PA on April 27, 1932, a son of the late Esther (Leasure) and Clair Peiffer.

He moved to Natrona Heights, attending both Birdville Grade School and Har-Brack High. Dick married Virginia Kramer of that area and raised 4 daughters and a son together. After their divorce, Dick joined with Patty Huth-Hines.

Together they had one daughter, Amy. Patty passed away in 2001 and is buried in Freeport Cemetery. He was residing in Kittanning, with his life long friend Carol Clevenger and her daughter Debra.

Dick’s employment years were spent driving truck for several companies. That list starts with 10 years at Penn Builders, 10 years at Freeport Transport where he covered all of the United States and Canada, then 24 years at Motor Coils Manufacturing, hauling to major railroads throughout the US and Canada. Even after retirement at age 66, he still drove part-time.

He hauled Auto Parts for Bastin Auto Part, automobile deliveries for Deveraux Motor Sales, Walker’s Auto of Kittanning and Boyer Boat Sales to name a few. Richard enjoyed in his spare time and younger years roller skating, hunting, snowmobile riding and spending time with family. The family summer fun was going to their camp at Canadohta Lake which he owned for over 30 years.

He was a big Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. Richard was a member of the Freeport VFW, Freeport Eagles, and he greatly enjoyed his many casino memberships. He sadly leaves behind his wonderful children; Rochelle “Shelly” Abrams, of Escondido, CA; Jerrylyn (Michael) Mollick, of Apollo; Roxanne Johnson, of Butler, Lori (John) Williams, of Escondido, CA; Amy (Chuck) Chelko of Natrona Heights; and his son, Richard L. Peiffer, Jr, of Freeport.

He also leaves behind two brothers Donald (Pat) Peiffer and Robert (Reene) Peiffer, both of Sarver; a sister Margie (Bill) Geisler of Grove City and many wonderful nieces, nephews, grandchildren and the arrival of a first great grandchild due in December. May peace, health and joy be with them always. In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded by an infant son Keith Alan Peiffer and infant daughter Valerie Mae Peiffer, brother Delmont “Hoss” Peiffer and sister Dorothy (Peiffer) Stoops.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, Nov 2, 2018 from 1-3 & 5-7 in the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport. Funeral services will follow the viewing at 7:00 pm in the funeral home with his son in law John Williams officiating. Burial will be held in Freeport Cemetery in Freeport.
