Richard Lynn “Dick” Harshbarger, age 87, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away at 9:26 A.M. Friday, March 15, 2019 at Green Hills Community in West Liberty, Ohio. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio at the family homestead February 24, 1932, to the late Floyd N. and Mollie E. (Stayrook) Harshbarger. On June 24, 1950, he married Martha Elizabeth Marsh and she preceded him in death August 19, 2016.

Dick was also preceded in death by his eldest son, Dale Harshbarger; a granddaughter, Paige Elizabeth Harshbarger; siblings, Lina Pearl Detwiler, Dora Belle Weatherby and Robert Franklin Harshbarger and a son-in-law, Frank Davis. Dick is survived by a daughter, Deborah Harshbarger-Davis of Lakeview, Ohio; sons, Jack (Dee Dee) Harshbarger of DeGraff, Ohio, Mark (Teresa) Harshbarger of DeGraff and Chris Harshbarger of Bellefontaine; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Dick was a 1950 graduate of DeGraff High School and was a school bus driver for Riverside Schools for thirty years before retiring.

Dick and his wife Martha operated the Stockyard and Sale Barn in DeGraff. He was very passionate about farming his family farm and enjoyed watching harness racing at the Brown Jug in Delaware, Ohio. Dick was a Master Mason and a member of the Boggs Lodge #292 in DeGraff for fifty years.

He was an avid hunter, a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and enjoyed attending all types of sporting events. In his younger years, Dick coached little and pony league baseball and played fast pitch softball. He loved doing word searches and especially trivia games with Mark and Teresa.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2018 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff, Ohio. A Masonic Service will take place at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Rev.

Bill Halter will officiate the funeral service Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff. The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff.
