Richard’s Obituary Dodge City – Richard “Dickie” Olivarez, Jr., aka Charlie Brown, 50, died February 13, 2019 at Hays Medical Center, Hays. He was born on May 5, 1968 at Dodge City, the son of Richard, Sr. and Martha (Rodriguez) Olivarez. Richard grew up in Dodge City and was a 1987 graduate of Dodge City High School.

After grauduation he went to work for Excel and worked there for 18 years. He also worked for National Beef and Curtis Machine Shop for several years. Richard was also a sous chef at the Dodge House, Bad Habit, and most recently Guymon Petro.

He enjoyed life and making people happy with his cooking. Richard was a loving and devoted father. He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Dickie is survived by two daughters, Kyla Jade Olivarez and Mariah A. Olivarez both of Dodge City; his mother, Martha Olivarez of Dodge City; a brother, Frank Olivarez of Dodge City; sister, Rachel Ann Olivarez of Dodge City; a grandson, Aydan Joseph Young of Dodge City; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Olivarez, Sr. on September 17, 2018. Vigil service 7:00 PM Thursday, February 21, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Funeral Mass 11:00 AM Friday, February 22, at the Cathedral.

Private family interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Thursday February 21, 2019 from Noon to 5:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Richard Olivarez Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
