Richard Onkenhout, 56, of Bellingham passed away on Sunday April 15, 2018 at Tufts Medical Center, Boston. Richard had been employed as a machine operator for the M.C. Machine Co. in Hopedale for over 30 years and prior to that he served in the US Navy. He was born October 3, 1961 in The Netherlands the son of Julia C. (Jansen) Onkenhout of Bellingham and the late Gijsbertus Onkenhout.

Richard enjoyed time with family and friends, doing puzzles, attending car shows, and attending “happening events” whether it be sporting events, parades, fireworks or local events. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors.

Mr. Onkenhout is survived by his mother, Julia C. Onkenhout of Bellingham, two brothers, Robert and his wife Keiko Onkenhout of Japan and Eric G. Onkenhout of Bellingham, two sisters, Hellen M. Saxton and her partner Graeme Bennie, both of Mendon, Cynthia C. Maron and her partner Dianna Dauphine of E. Providence, RI, 3 nieces and 3 nephews. A Celebration of Life for Richard will be held in Medway at the Restaurant 45, Friday May 4 from 4 PM – 8 PM. Please e-mail the family at cinmrn89@gmail.com for further information.
