Richard W. Barger, Sr., 77, of Limestone, NY, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the Buffalo General Medical Center, Buffalo, NY. He was born on September 23, 1941 in Limestone, a son of the late Frank and Virginia Fox Barger. He was a 1961 graduate of the former Limestone Union Free School.

He was a life member of the Limestone Volunteer Fire Department; where he had 59 years of active service.

He was a member of the Sons of the Legion, Limestone Legion Post 1560 and a former member of the Teamsters Union Local 649, Olean. Richard will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He worked as a union steward with the Teamsters Union 649 before working for the former Keller Construction, Limestone; he then became the Highway Superintendent of Limestone.

He then started working for the former Zirkle Construction, Limestone prior to working for Belser Hale Inc. until his retirement in 2008. He is survived by one son, Richard (Kristy) Barger, Jr. of Bradford; one daughter, Lucinda (Eugene) Barger-Clancy of Limestone; three grandchildren, Derrick Mangel of Limestone and Travis and Brianna Barger of Bradford; one brother, David (Jeanne) Barger of Limestone and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by twin daughters, Dorla May and Darla Kay Barger; brother, Frank Barger and twin brother, Ralph Barger.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM, Saturday, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Salamanca, NY with the Rev. Patrick Melfi as celebrant. Burial and committal services will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Limestone.

Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to the Limestone Volunteer Fire Department, 616 Main St., Limestone, NY 14753.
