Obituary of Richard Roberts Richard C. Roberts, 74, of Goshen, and a 12 year cancer survivor, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at home. Mr. Roberts was born March 28, 1944 in New York, NY, the son of Edelbert and Gladys (Augusta) Roberts and grew up in Southfields. After high school Dick joined the Marines and served during the Cuban crisis.

Dick was proud of his time served in the Marines and used the values of the Marines to guide him throughout his life. Dick was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Roberts; son, Kenneth D. Roberts and wife Karen; daughter Kimberly P. Catanzaro and husband Mike; Dolores’ sons, Jesse Carney and wife Joanna and Chris Carney and wife Erin; nine grandchildren; sisters, Sandra Miele and husband Ed, Nancee Roberts, Judi Kowalski and Debbie Clack; and several nieces and nephews.

Dick was predeceased by his first wife Sheila Appleton Roberts. Dick worked as a Facilities Director, first, in Goshen Central School District then in Monroe Woodbury Central School District. He retired from Monroe Woodbury Central School District in 2007.

Not content to stay retired, Dick took on a role as interim Facilities Director for Valley Central School District for the past 4 years. Outside of work, he enjoyed many other responsibilities and activities, but not as much as he enjoyed and loved his beautiful home and property. He reveled at the gorgeous scenery his residence provided.

When he wasn’t at home taking in the view. Dick was busy in his community. He was elected as a Goshen Town Councilman in 2001 in a “landslide” vote.

He was the Treasurer of the New York State Chapter of Superintendent of building and grounds for 16 yrs. He belonged to the Al Turi Golf League for 30+ years. And he was a lifelong Yankee fan.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 28 from 2 to 5 P.M. at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY, with the Funeral Service at 5 PM with Father Bill Dowd officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dick’s memory to your local animal shelter.
