Richard O. Fisher, 94, formerly of Silver Spring Ave. , East Providence, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 23, 2018 at the RI Veterans Home.

He was the husband of the late Anna (Papa) Fisher. Born Feb. 14, 1924, in Providence, he was a son of the late Harold and Marion Grace (Osgood) Fisher.

Mr. Fisher was an Army veteran of WWII serving as a field lineman and infantryman. He served in battles in the Northern Solomons and the liberation of the southern Philippines. He was chosen to participate in the Honor Flight Romeo, visiting the WWII monument in Washington, DC, April 7, 2018.

He is survived by his sister, June Page; 5 nieces, Brenda Connell, Faith Fisher, Lynn Miller, Gail Fisher, and Deborah Zepp; and his nephew, Alan Fisher. He was the brother of the late Alan Fisher and also the uncle of the late Sharon (Page) Cortalessa and the late Steven Page. Following his expressed wishes, private burial with military honors will take place at the RI Veterans Cemetery.
