Obituary for Rita M. Davis Print Rita M. Davis 93, of Dubuque entered into heaven Saturday January 26, 2019 surrounded by her family at the Finley Hospital in Dubuque. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Thursday January 31, 2019 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory at 2659 JFK Road, in Dubuque. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church .

Rita was born on October 21, 1925 in Dubuque, the daughter of Herbert & Francis (Martin) Goedert. Rita attended grade school at St. Anthony’s and graduated from Senior High School in 1944. That very same year Rita married Walter Davis at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, after 58 great years of marriage he preceded her in death on March 8, 2002.

Rita was a homemaker and a fantastic cook. She loved playing bingo, bowling, or playing cards. Rita also enjoyed going to the Q Casino, as well as out of town casinos.

She was also a massive cubs fan and was so happy she got to see the Cubs win the World Series in 2016. She is survived by her children Wally (Cookie) Davis, Sue (Ralph) Kieffer, John (Lorna) Davis, Bonnie (Ron) Hume, Terry (Cherie) Davis; daughter-in-law Cindy Davis; 40 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and 4 sister-in-laws. She was preceded in death by her son Jim Davis; three brothers Bob, Harold, Vince Goedert; and a sister Mary Lou Flammang; she was also preceded in death by two grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A Rita Davis Memorial Fund has been established. The family would like to thank the staff at Finley Hospital especially the ICU, ER. We would also like to thank Dr. Liaboe and his nurse Trish, Dr. Mark Hermann, Dr. Arnz, Tony N. Heiar, ARNP, and Chaplain James Mehltretter.
