CLINTON—Rita I. Eckel, 84, passed away surrounded by her family on July 16, 2018. Rita was born in Akron and had been an area resident all her life where she worked at Barberton Citizens Hospital and Isaly’s. She loved to roller skate and dance and could start a conversation with anyone she met.

Preceded in death by her husband Gene; parents William and Mary Johnson; brothers Butch and Bob; and sisters Marie and Ruby Johnson; She is survived by her daughters Mary Alice Eckel and Nancy (Brad) Little; sons Robert (Kathy) and Ron; grandchildren Sean Eckel. Renee Barker, Bobbie Eckel, Jody Leohr, Michael (Melina) Deemer and Timothy Deemer; and numerous great-grandchildren. A special thank you to Magnolia Care Center for their care and compassion for Rita.

Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 1-2 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Patricia Eckel officiating.
