Rita’s Obituary Rita Kay McCartney, 76, of Center Point, died Friday February 1, 2019 at UnityPoint Health St. Lukes Hospital. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home. Burial: Rogers Grove Cemetery, Ely.

Rita is survived by her daughter Connie (Jim “Tiny”) Takes of Center Point; a son Brian of Marion; grandchildren Zach (Katrina), Sydney, Brody and Brogan; two great grandchildren Kaylee and Nevaeh; three brothers, Jerry (Shirley) McAtee of Solon, Larry ( Marge) McAtee of Lisbon, and Duane (Anna) McAtee of Ely; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Rita is preceded in death by a great grandchild Zayden, her parents, her sister, Sharon Osborn and brother Gary McAtee. Rita was born on March 15, 1942 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Lloyd and Ina Miller McAtee.

She was a 1960 graduate of Solon High School and a custodian for College Community School District from 1980 1996. Rita enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her sister Sharon. Rita was a dedicated volunteer for all school and church functions.

She will be remembered for always being concerned about others before herself, and spending time gambling. Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for an established memorial fund.
