Obituary for Rita Marie Price Rita Marie Price (nee Ferenec) age 56, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Lorain, grew up in Sheffield Village, and graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in journalism. She married Bill Price in 1986; they made their first home in Lorain before moving to North Ridgeville in 1992.

Rita worked in public relations for the cable industry for many years before serving as the director of the North Ridgeville Senior Center beginning in 2003. Outside of work, Rita previously acted as the Vice President of the Kidney Foundation of Lorain County, and was a member of the North Ridgeville Lion’s Club. She volunteered for Golden Retrievers in Need pet rescue by fostering dogs; she always had at least two dogs by her side and eagerly awaits reuniting with many of them at the end of the “Rainbow Bridge”.

Rita was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville, where her activities included: secretary of the Holy Name Society, Children’s Liturgy of the Word minister, Girl Scout leader, and Boy Scout leader (“Popcorn Colonel”). One of Rita’s true passions was supporting education and St. Peter School. She acted as President and Vice President of St. Peter School PTU, spearheaded its Night at the Races fundraiser, was an involved room parent, and volunteered for many other activities.

Most notably, she was an active member of St. Peter’s School Advisory Council and helped renew the school’s public relations and advertising efforts. The teachers and students of St. Peter’s have not forgotten her service; each student at the school sent her a get-well card during her illness, and the entire school prayed for her every day. Rita’s active social life included frequent bar-hopping with her husband, Bill, and her friends – especially the “Village” of friends that grew together as their children attended St. Peter School and Elyria Catholic.

Rita loved hosting Christmas, Easter, New Year’s, and other big parties at her house, and she loved having family and friends over to go swimming. She often baked her famous chocolate chip cookies for friends, fire fighters, parties, daughters’ co-workers… and even her daughter’s wedding guests! At home, Rita walked her dogs every day, and watched NCIS every Tuesday with her family.

Other favorite activities included reading crime and Amish drama novels, visiting Amish country with her daughters, watching her son stunt with cheerleaders, and decorating for Christmas. She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Bill, and her children: Andrea (Paul) Ferguson of Elyria, and Bethany and Will, at home. She is also survived by her siblings: Mary Ann (Art) Powell of Portland, TN; Rose Marie Ferenec of Elyria; Mike (Kathy) Ferenec of Lorain; and Joe (Sue) Ferenec of Sheffield Village.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Augustine and Rita (nee Link) Ferenec. Friends may call Tuesday from 3-9PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd. , N. Ridgeville, where the Knights of Columbus will lead a Rosary Service at 7:30PM and a Lions Club service will be held at 8:30PM.
