Robert A. “Bob” Ryan, 64, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2019 Born in Alexandria, Virginia where his father was stationed with the U.S. Army, Bob was raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky, attended Bowling Green High School and Western Kentucky University and was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity. Bob was a funeral director for over 35 years until retiring from J.B. Ratterman & Sons. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, a former coach and board member for Highview Athletic League, a past president of the Buechel-Fern Creek Jaycees, a Senator with Jaycees International and an Ambassador with United States Jaycees.

Bob was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, WKU athletics, and U of L athletics; being a yearly season ticket holder for men’s basketball. He also enjoyed a good game of golf! Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Bettye and Joseph Ryan of Bowling Green, KY, his father-and-mother-in-law Betty and Charlie Strobel, and the mother of his sons, Susan Street Minter.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Strobel Ryan, two sons; Alan (Kimberly) and Chad (Andrea), his daughter Jillian, his brother David (Lisa) of Owensboro, 4 grandchildren; Skye, Laila, Aiden, and Kaden, and many nieces and nephews along with tons of in laws. Visitation will be held on January 24, 2019, from 3-7 p.m. at Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Rd, East Louisville. The Mass of Resurrection will be at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Friday January 25, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. with private burial at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, 1500 College Way, Lexington Kentucky, 40502.
