Obituary for Robert M. Calderwood Print Born July 27, 1930 in Tyrone, PA; the son of Anna Jane Johnson, Robert Melroy Calderwood, and Jay Irvin. He graduated from Tyrone Area High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955. Upon his return to Tyrone, PA he met and on May 1956 married the love of his life, wife Mary Lou (Shanafelt) Calderwood.

He enjoyed a 32-year career with the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (A & P) followed by semi-retirement working at Christmas Shoppes in Myrtle Beach, SC and Altoona, PA. Baseball season was a favorite and he spoke fondly of his time pitching league games at the old Athletic Park of his hometown. Surviving are his wife, a brother Benjamin Calderwood, and sisters Beverly Calderwood, Marsha Irvin, and Cleo Irvin, along with his children, Susan, Bob, Kerry, and grandchildren, Katie, Deanna, and Jeremey.

He was preceded in death by daughter Lisa Ann. Burial services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tyrone Area Historical Society, P.O. Box 1850, Tyrone, PA 16686.
