Obituary for Robert Dow Askins Robert Dow Askins, 67, of Warsaw KY, died when his plane crashed in Florence, IN on July 19, 2018. He grew up in Louisville and after graduating from the University of Louisville in 1972, entered the U. S. Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force he joined Delta Air Lines.

He retired from Delta in 2005, and went to work as an aviation safety inspector for the FAA in 2006. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Wende; a daughter, Tara Cull of Delhi, OH. ; two sisters, Christine Smith of Lexington and Elizabeth (Beth) Askins of Florence; a brother, Joe Askins of Nashville, TN; a grandson, Steven “Tucker” Cull of New Albany, IN.

; and a granddaughter, Grace Cull of Florence. A celebration of Bob Askins’ life will be held Friday, Aug. 3, from 1-4 p.m. at the University of Louisville Alumni/University Club.
