Robert E. “Bob” Penrod, 84, of Scottsville, KY passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Greenwood Rehab and Nursing Care in Bowling Green. The Crofton, KY native was a retired employee of Columbia Steel Casting in Portland, OR; former owner and operator of Family Fitness Center; appointed during Gov. Nunn’s administration as director of construction and maintenance of Kentucky State Parks and was the overseer of construction of the Barren River Lodge; the honoree of the Bob Penrod Award given annually to volunteers of the Friends of Barren River; involved in the annual Lakeshore Cleanup and other projects to enhance the lake area property; co-chairman of Barren County Women’s Republican Group; 32nd degree Mason and member of Kosair Shrine Temple and U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He was the son of the late Robert Nathanial Penrod and Lois Clotine Vickery Penrod. He is survived by 2 daughters: Sherry Penrod, Scottsville, KY and Penny Turner and husband, Donald, Austin, KY; Long-time companion: Wanda Marksbary, Bowling Green, KY; 2 granddaughters: Alisha Millay and Megan Morales; 2 great grandchildren: Morgan Addison Starks and Journey Faith Morales; A special 4 legged friend: Buddy. He was preceded in death by 1 sister: Joyce Roth.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be under the direction of Goad Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Jude’s, Kosair Children’s Hospital or the No Kill Animal Shelter in Bowling Green.
