Obituary for Velma Denham Lyon Velma Denham Lyon, age 89, of Louisville passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018 at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. She was born on July 20, 1929 in Tompkinsville to the late Frank Denham and Maude Proffitt Denham. She was married to the late Ivan Lyon.

She is survived by two daughters: Betty Jo Weilage and husband Ralph of Louisville and Sue Mertl and husband Jim of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren: Jason Weilage and Angela Weilage both of Louisville, and Garrett Mertl of Atlanta, GA; three great- grandchildren: Jacob, Marshall, and Megan Weilage all of Louisville; one brother: Leon Denham and wife Joyce of Louisville. In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by one brother: Arley Denham and four sisters: Norma Dyer, Nell Martin, Edna Jackson, and Naoma Smith. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, November 17 at 12 P.M. CST at the Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.

Bro. Kevin Lyon will officiate the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Monroe County Memorial Lawn in Tompkinsville.

Visitation will be held at the Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville on Saturday, November 17 from 10 AM until time of service at 12 PM CST. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Northeast Christian Church or to Hosparus. These donations can be made at the funeral home office or mailed directly to: Northeast Christian Church 9900 Brownsboro Rd.
