Robert E. Sowers Sr., 93, of Zanesville, went to be with the Lord, at 12:01 A.M. Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House, Zanesville surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 8, 1924, in Zanesville, a son of the late James and Elizabeth Temple Sowers. Bob was a member of East 40 Church of Christ, retired from Armco Steel and was a United States Army Air Force Veteran serving his country in World War Two.

Surviving are his loving wife of 75 years, Doris L. Mohler Sowers, whom he married January 25, 1943; three daughters, Beverly (Fred) Curry, Rebecca (Michael) Hamilton and Debra (Dave) Neal; three sons, Robert E. (Linda) Sowers Jr., William (Sara) Sowers and Ronald (Cindy) Sowers; twenty two grandchildren; thirty seven great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Kevin Sowers and Craig Hamilton; four sisters and eight brothers. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.

Friends and family may call from 5-8 P.M. Thursday July 5, 2018 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 6, 2018 at the funeral home with Mr. Sam Dunn officiating. He will be laid to rest at Pleasant Grove Cemetery with full military honors accorded to him by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29.
