Mr. Robert Edward “Bob” Lovett, Jr., 78, beloved husband of May Lovett and a resident of Painter, VA, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. Born February 29, 1940 in Washington, D.C., and reared in Arlington, VA, he was the son of the late Robert Edward Lovett and Maude Adeline Maguire. Bob and May’s love story began in high school where they met, and later, began dating.

In 1958, Bob joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country as a Seabee. After many years apart, Bob and May reunited and were married in 1980. Together, they relocated to the Eastern Shore where Bob began his company, B&M Contractors.

As an avid outdoorsman, he loved all the Shore had to offer and looked forward to fishing and camping trips with his family, as well as the occasional motorcycle ride on his Harley Davidson. Bob was adored by his loved ones, and although his presence will be greatly missed, the many memories shared will be forever cherished. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by two children, Dawn M. Miller, and Gregory A. Smith and wife Kathy Bundick, all of Parksley, VA; two grandchildren, Kaitlynn M. Spence and husband Joseph of Newport News, VA, who are expecting Bob’s first great-grandchild in July, and Brandon L. Smith of Melfa, VA; and sister, Shirley Zimmerman and husband Jim of Myrtle Beach, SC.

Other than his parents, Bob was predeceased by two sons, Ricky Allen Lovett and Steven Lee Smith. Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral home on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Rob Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the Onancock Cemetery.

There will be a visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted, and are preferred, or memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23069-9979.
