Obituary for Robert F. Ristow Robert “Bob” Frank Ristow, age 78, of Appleton WI, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King. Robert was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Appleton, WI. He had been employed by Metso and Akrosil as a maintenance manager.

As an avid outdoorsman, Bob was an active member of many hunting and fishing organizations. He belonged to Otter Street, Sturgeons For Tomorrow, Ducks Unlimited, and White Tails. Robert graduated in 1957 in Oshkosh, WI and went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1965.

He served as an Aircraft and Engine Mechanic and as an Air Traffic Control Radar Repairman. He was awarded the Air Force Longevity Service Award, two Good Conduct Medals, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. During his eight years of service he deployed to multiple Air Force bases throughout South East Asia to install advanced Air Traffic Control Radar equipment.

Some of these locations included Japan, Vietnam, Guam, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. He is survived by his wife of 23 years: Kim Ristow of Appleton; devoted daughter: Amy (Andrew) Pankow and three grandchildren of Boston, MA; two sons, Randy and Robert Ristow of Darboy and three grandchildren; two sisters Jean Lugg of Phoenix, AZ, and Janet (David) Priebe, of Oshkosh, and brother Dr. Ronald Ristow of Oconto Falls; along with many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents (Arthur and Ann Ristow) and siblings (Jeanette, twin brother Richard, and Arthur).

The family is deeply appreciative and grateful for the nurses, staff, support, service, and level of care that were provided to Robert at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at Primo Italian Restaurant in Oshkosh, WI from 12PM-3PM on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018.
