Robert Gail Smith “Smitty”, 76, of Blackhawk, Indiana passed away October 2, 2018. He was born May 11, 1942 in Riley, Indiana, to Robert F. Smith and Emma Jewell (Mitchell) Smith. Robert was a member of Blackhawk Community Church.

He retired from Pfizer after 35 years. Robert also held membership at Oaktown Gun Club and Okiboii Indians. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, and coyote hunting.

Robert also enjoyed his horses. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Robert was loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Carol (Bedwell) Smith; his mother Emma Jewell (Mitchell) Smith; son Rob Smith (Mary Ann); daughter Tracie Land; grandchildren Kelcie Wolboldt (Jeff), Ericka Smith, Claire Smith, Benjamin Land, and Derick Land (Tanya); great grandchildren Kylie, Wesley, Bailey, and one on the way; special friends John Frye and David Webster; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father and infant son. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 10:00a.m. in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804.

Pastor Jeff Lee will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 4:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. Online condolences may be made at www. greinerfuneralhome.com .
