Robert J. Paquette, 91, of Biddeford, died Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at St. Andre’s Healthcare Facility. He was born July 2, 1927 in St. Honore, P.Q. Canada, a son of Edmond and Annie (Begin) Paquet. Robert came to this area as a child and had been educated both here and in Canada.

He enlisted in the US Navy serving on the USS Adirondack during WW2. He and his brothers received their diplomas at Waterhouse Field with the Biddeford High School, Class of 2002. On June 24, 1950, he married Alice Roy at St. Andre’s Church.

He had been employed as a master plumber at A.F. Letellier & Sons / Division Provencher and retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1993. In 1995, in his “retirement” he worked as a plumber and maintenance man in Biddeford School system, again retiring in June of 2014. As a young man he, his brothers and their father made up a fast-pitch softball team, “The Rocky Nine”.

Robert had been a member of the D.A.V., the Amvets Post 1, and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed bowling on a team with his brothers. He had served in the Biddeford City Council with mayor Lucien Dutremble.

Paramount in his life were his wife, children, grand and great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were 3 sisters; Desneige Frechette, Bernadette Houde and Annette Desruisseaux and 5 brothers; Rene, Armand, Real, Gerard and Lucien Paquette. He is survived by: His wife of 67 years: Alice Paquette of Biddeford 1 daughter: Gail Lemieux of Biddeford 2 sons: Gary Paquette of Saco Randy Paquette and his wife Carole of Biddeford 2 brothers: John Paquette of Saco and Antoino Paquet of Biddeford 8 grandchildren: Shaunna Lamontagne and husband Ryan Derek, Dale and Brad Lemieux Crystal Antocicco and significant other Edward Karen Rhodes and husband Ken Matthew Drown and wife Melissa, and Kaylee Hale 6 great grandchildren: Cassandra Antocicco, Ryleigh Paquette, Sierra Hodge, Bentley & Braeden Hale & Harper Drown There will be no visiting hours.
