Robert M. Brooks, 63, of Louisville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 21, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Covington, KY. He was born January 20, 1956 in Louisville, a son to the late Walter Brooks, Jr. and Donnie Frances Willian Brooks. Robert attended the University of Kentucky, receiving his Bachelor’s degree in 1978 and graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 1981.

Upon graduating, he joined Boehl Stopher & Graves, LLP, where he practiced in areas of civil litigation for over 37 years with an emphasis on commercial and construction law. He was a member of the Louisville and Kentucky Bar Associations, has been recognized in Best Lawyers since 2008, named “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers for Litigation – Construction Louisville in 2016, and recognized in “Best Lawyers in America” for work in Litigation – Construction. Robert never met a stranger, was blessed with an incredible sense of humor, and will be deeply missed by all those who had the honor of spending time with him.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Steve Brooks. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Carol Mitchell Brooks; three sons, Taylor (Laura), Will and Russell Brooks and a sister-in-law, Brenda Brooks. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2019 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3345 Lexington Road.

Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road. Burial will take place at a later date. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Robert’s name to the American Heart Association or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
