Obituary for Robert Man Tin Chan Myrtle Beach…. Robert MT Chan, 81, of Myrtle Beach, SC passed away after a brief illness. Born in Canton, China on September 7, 1937.

Robert and his young family immigrated to the US in the early seventies, to Charleston, WV, then settling in Myrtle Beach, SC where he lived for over 37 years. Robert was a hard working, loyal, extremely stubborn cook by trade. His passion was food and worked with many Chinese restaurants throughout the Carolinas, and even briefly owned his own restaurant in the mid-nineties.

He enjoyed living near the beach, gardening, and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Robert was proceeded in death by his loving wife of over forty-two years, Karen, and youngest brother, King. Those left to cherish his memory are his children; a daughter, Shirley and her husband, Michael; a son, Howard and his wife, Janice; a middle brother, Jin and their families; a precious grandson, Jeffrey; and many extended family members and friends across the world, far and near.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to: a special caregiver and long time family friend, Pam aka “Kim”; and the dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center and Spartanburg Medical Center. A private graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to: American Red Cross and those in need, especially those affected by Hurricane Florence, or donate online at www.
