Obituary for S. Sutton Flythe S. Sutton Flythe S. Sutton Flythe, age 84, of Pawleys Island passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018. Born in Fieldale, VA, he was a son of the late Sutton Flythe, Sr. and Virginia White Flythe. After graduation from Fieldale High School and Randolph Macon Academy in 1952, he attended UNC Chapel Hill for 3 years, and served in the U.S. Army for 2 years.

After his honorable discharge, he graduated from Randolph Macon College and worked in the banking industry for 36 years and retired from Crestar Bank (now Sun Trust). While living in Martinsville, VA, he served on numerous boards in the community including YMCA and Kiwanis Club. Mr. Flythe was also honored to serve as chairman on several boards including Group of Virginia Bankers Association.

He was a huge supporter and member of the Ram’s Club, and avid golfer, a member of the reserve Golf Club and a member of St. Paul’s Waccamaw United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret (Peggy) Teague. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Brenda Flythe; daughters, Katharine F. Dupree (Chuck) and Margaret F. Philhower; a son, S. Sutton Flythe III (Cameron); grandchildren, Alex, Lindsay, Cole, Simon, Wyatt and Banks; 2 brothers, Buck and Tom Flythe and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at St. Paul’s Waccamaw United Methodist Church with Reverend Scott Efird officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Sign an online guestbook at www.
