Robert Noah Smith, age 70, of Millsboro, DE passed away unexpectedly at home on January 23, 2019. He was born on August 12, 1948 to the late Noah B. and Florence Virginia Smith in Lewes, Delaware. He was a graduate of Sus Central High School and served in the US Army Reserves.

He married Patricia Mitchell in 1969, and together they raised three children. He served as a Corrections Officer, ultimately becoming the Manager of the Farming Operations of Sus Correctional Institute. He retired after 29 ½ years of service.

He enjoyed rabbit hunting for many years with his kids. He loved sports, and was very active coaching Little League at Georgetown, and traveling with Softball Teams. He was ornery, and fun!

He took care of many cats. He never had a problem telling you “the way it was” – yet was always only a phone call away if anyone needed help. He loved to go with his grandkids to the movies and watch their sporting events.

Robert was an avid Ravens and Orioles fan, and thought of himself as politically astute. He is survived by his children: Robert N. “Robbie” Smith, II (Joy); Lori Bishop (Rick); and Christopher Smith (Leigh Ann). Also surviving are: a sister, Jo Ellen Tracey (Bill); a brother, Tony Smith; eight grandchildren: Alex Smith; Morgan Smith; Emily Smith; Carter Smith; Mady Smith; Hope Smith; Trey Bishop; and Lilly Bishop.

Other survivors include a special friend, Maude Baker and many other extended family members and friends, and his special “softball friends”. He preceeded by his wife, Patricia in 2004, and a brother, Donald Smith. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday February 2, 2019 at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, DE with a time of visitation with the family and calling hours from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, the Service follows at 1:00 PM with Chaplain Larry Lilly officiating.
