Obituary for Rocco Messina ROCCO MESSINA SEPTEMBER 5, 1944 – MAY 8, 2018 Rocco Messina passed away May 8, 2018, after a long illness. Born September 5,1944, in Palmi, Italy, he worked as a mechanic and also served in the Italian military. Rocco immigrated to the United States in 1965, joining his parents and brother.

Teresa & Rocco met in Italy in 1970 and married at St. Basil’s Church in Vallejo a year later. He owned “Italia Pizzeria,” also known as “Rocco’s Place” in Vallejo. There he and his wife enjoyed making pizza and Italian food.

He retired from the restaurant business in 1984 to spend more quality time with his wife and children. Rocco enjoyed playing the guitar, and making and sharing limoncello and grappa with his friends and families. Rocco is preceded in death by a brother and parents Giuseppe and Mattea Messina.

He is survived by a brother, Joseph, wife Teresa, daughter Lisa, son in law Edward, son Peppino and four grandchildren. Rosary and viewing will be held at Twin Chapels Mortuary, 1100 Tennessee Street, Vallejo, CA starting at 2 PM, Wednesday, May 16, followed by a rosary at 7PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 925 Sacramento Street, Vallejo, CA at 11 AM, Thursday May 17, 2018.

Burial will immediately follow in All Souls Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the direction and care of Twin Chapels Mortuary, Vallejo (707)552-6696. www.
