Obituary for Mr. Rocco V. “Rock” DiPerna Rocco V. “Rock” DiPerna, age 65, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Born in Utica on October 16, 1952, Rocco was the son of the late Frank J. and Theresa M. (DeRusso) DiPerna. Raised and educated locally, he was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School.

On April 21, 1996 he married the former Janet E. Pooley with whom he shared 22 years in a loving commitment blessed with many beautiful memories. From 1978-2014 Rock was a familiar face to the many people he greeted in his position at Price Chopper. As patriarch and provider for his family, Rock loved spending time with his loved ones and enjoyed the comfort of his home.

He was a real fan of Rock n’ Roll music, especially the songs of Ricky Nelson, and of course, The Beatles. Rocco is survived by his wife, Janet; mother-in-law, Rockatell M. Pooley whom he so lovingly cared for; in-laws, Diane and Glenn Trapp; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn DiPerna, Barbara and Stephen Gondek, Lucy and Robert Brodowski, and Ann and Dennis Scire; and his brother and sister-in-law, Robert Frank “Bob’ and Susan DiPerna. He also leaves his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and his loving canine “babies” Spencer, Corky, and Harley.

He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Charles E. “Chuck” Pooley. In keeping with Rock’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a gathering to honor and celebrate Rocco’s life which will be held at Club Monarch, 16 Erie Street, Yorkville, NY on Monday afternoon from 12-3.
