Obituary for ROD MONTGOMERY MONTGOMERY, Rod, age 79, of Middletown, (Preble County), Ohio, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties where he had been a patient for one day. He was born January 23, 1939 in Middletown and lived in the Miami Valley area all his life. He graduated from Lemon Monroe High School Class of 1957 and Miami University in 1962 with a Bachelor’s Degree.

He was employed in the central offices of Armco/AK Steel for 28 years, retiring in 1991. He was also a grain farmer and raised beef cattle and pigs. Rod was the youth choir director at Grand Avenue Church of God and later served as Sunday school superintendent at Towne Boulevard Church of God and First Church of God, Monroe.

He also enjoyed hiking with his friends on the Appalachian trail. Preceding him in death were his father, William O. Montgomery; his mother Lucille F. (Cottle) Curtner; stepfather, Gale Curtner; sister, Juanita Frances Jones; and brother-in-law, Paul Fugate. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Juanita Montgomery; two sons, Trevor (Machele) Montgomery and Kevin (Amy) Montgomery; four grandchildren, Kyle Montgomery, Katlin (Nick) LaGreca, Maggie Montgomery and Sallie Montgomery; sister-in-law, Peggy Fugate; brother-in-law, Leonard (Jill) Fugate; and many extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Timothy Wourms and the doctors, nurses, aides and other staff at Atrium Medical Center for their excellent care. Further thanks to Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties for providing peace and comfort during his brief stay there. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the First Church of God, 100 East Ave.

, Monroe, Ohio 45050, followed by services at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Terry Ball and Chaplain June Deaton officiating. Interment will be at Fairmound Cemetery, West Elkton, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the children’s ministries at the First Church of God, 100 East Ave.
