Rodney F. Forristall joined his Lord and Savior in Glory on January 17, 2019. A man of significant intellect, a generous heart, and an earnest friend to all who knew him, he is already missed. A benefactor to: the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, the Minnesota Zoo, the Chaska Moravian Church, the Minnesota and Carver County Historical Societies and so many more, he took his call to service from nearly 60 years as a Mason, 87 years as a Moravian and nearly 70 years as a member of the American Legion Post 57, having served his country in the Navy.

Rodney’s family moved to Chaska in 1932 when he was 5 and although he lived in other locations during his lifetime, his heart never left the small town where he grew up. Graduating from Chaska High School in the Class of ’45, he enlisted in the Navy before attending the University of Minnesota and receiving his degree in chemical engineering in 1950. In 1951, he hired on with the Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Co., two years later, the company introduced the iconic T-86 “Round” thermostat, which remains in production today and is used in more households around the world than any other thermostat.

He remained in their service for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1991 as they became Honeywell, Inc. a world wide for gyroscopes, HVAC controls, aeronautic sensors and controls, security systems and helped put US astronauts on the moon.
