Roger Dale Pennington July 13, 1952 – December 25, 2018 Local Florists Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Roger Pennington Gaffney, SC – – Roger Dale Pennington, 66, of 217 Old Bridge Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at his residence. Born in Gaffney, he was the beloved husband of Rita Turner Pennington for 45 years and son of the late Roy Herbert Pennington and Nellie Vetch Pennington. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School, retired from Timken after 39 plus years of service and also worked for Warren Bonner and Jerry Phillips.

Roger was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He was a member of Abingdon Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, as chairman of the Property Committee, sang in the choir, and also served as a substitute Sunday School teacher. He loved his family and loved to help others.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Clint Pennington of Gaffney; two daughters, Selina Pennington and Jill Pennington, both of Gaffney; a grandson, Ty Pennington whom he adored; five brothers, Johnny Pennington and wife, Mary, Dean Pennington, Billy Joe Pennington and wife, Delores, Rick Pennington and Louie Pennington, all of Gaffney; five sisters, Rachel Blanton, Norma Blackwell and husband, Darryl, Margaret Byars and husband, Lewis, all of Gaffney, Linda Greer and husband, Tim of Grover and Kathy Splawn of Spartanburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Pennington and Lamar “Biggon” Pennington and a sister, Elaine Mills. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 PM on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Abingdon Creek Baptist Church.

Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 PM at the Church with Rev. Mike Wood and Rev. Delos Blanton officiating.

Interment will be in the Abingdon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ALS Association, P.O. Box 37022, Boone, IA 50037-0022. The family will be at the residence, 217 Old Bridge Road, Gaffney.
