Obituary of Roger Calhoun Roger Nelson Calhoun, a lifelong resident of Monticello, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He was 71. The son of Violet Beatrice Price Calhoun and the late Nelson “Nip” Calhoun, he was born on February 9, 1947 in Monticello.

An avid hunter, Roger was a founding member of Bear Paw Hunting Camp where he also liked to play cards and listen to music. He was also an amazing father and grandfather, and a devoted son to his parents over the years. He is survived by his mother: Violet “Toot” Calhoun of Monticello; his daughter: Balinda Calhoun of Monticello; a son: Reed Calhoun of Denver, CO; two grandsons: Corey Stanton and Matthew Irelan; three great grandchildren: Brooke, Matthew and Abby; his companion: Barbara Delong; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by two grandsons: Jonathan Michael Irelan and Casey Raymond Stanton. Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, January 2 from 6:00 to 9:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 3 at 11am at the funeral home with Rev.
