Mr. Roland F. Lenarduzzi, 91, passed away on June 15, 2018, in Beeville, Texas. He was born on August 14, 1926, in Houston, Texas, to Eraclito and Cesira Lenarduzzi, who were Italian immigrants. The family moved to Manvel in 1930.

Roland went to school in Manvel and Alvin. With the outbreak of World War II, he volunteered in the United States Navy, serving honorably until the war’s end in 1945. For most of his working life, Roland was employed at Southern Monument Company in Houston, making monuments and markers.

The company was owned by his brothers Nino and Pete. Father Eraclito did occasional sculptor work for the company. Living in Manvel, Roland and his brother Nino, were in the cattle ranching business.

In the 1950s and 60s, they had a herd of registered Santa Gertrudis cattle and later a herd of commercial cattle. Roland always loved animals and the farm life, having cattle up until the present. He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid outdoorsman.

He was also a talented artist, often creating drawings and paintings for friends. He was very talented at building construction and repairing things—an all-around handyman. In his retirement years, he had moved to Beeville, Texas.

Roland never married, so had no children of his own. He is survived by nieces and nephews: Glenda Maraldo of Stafford, Texas, Sandra Lenarduzzi of Spring, Texas, Edward Zambon of Richmond, Texas, Diana Mion and Debra Simmons of Richmond, Texas, Roland Lenarduzzi and wife, Linda, of Alvin, Texas, James Lenarduzzi and wife, Lavinia, of Beeville, Texas, Thomas Lenarduzzi and wife, Barbara, of Starkville, Mississippi, and all of their children and grandchildren. Roland was a wonderful person, always glad to see you, and always ready to help you in any way he could.

He was always the voice of reason and common sense. He never met a stranger, and always made time to talk to people. We will all miss him greatly but celebrate his life well-lived.

Visitation was held at Froberg Funeral Home at Oak Park in Alvin, Texas, on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., with the Funeral Service following at 2:00 pm. Interment was at Manvel Cemetery following the service.
