Ronald Wade Daniel, Sr., 74, of Dublin, went to be with his Lord on Friday, July 20, 2018 following a brief illness. Ronald is survived by his wife Janice of 50 years, his daughter Ronda Ely (Brad), son Wade Daniel, granddaughter Callie Jae Daniel, nephew Kenny Daniel (Darlene), great-nieces Ashley Petrie (Robbie), Kassie Middlebrooks (Bill), and Brittany Joiner (Jesse), great-great nephews Oliver and Greer Petrie and great-great niece and nephew Berklie and Behr Joiner, uncle James Radney and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hancel “Hank” and Annie Mae Radney Daniel, brothers Earl Daniel and Jerry Daniel, and nephew Steve “Wormie” Daniel.
Ronald was a loving husband, father, “Poppie,” and friend to everyone. His big smiles and giant hugs ensured that he never met a stranger. Professionally, he owned and operated Dublin Tire; his easy-going personality helped ensure the success of his business for over 30 years.
After he “retired” in 2000, he sold the business but was not content sitting at home, so he continued to spend time at Dublin Tire serving as a “PR Coordinator” every day and cooking for the staff and vendors on Wednesdays and if they were lucky on Thursdays, too. Ronald will also be remembered for helping add Christmas memories for many families through his Christmas tree business Daniel’s Frazier Firs. Every Christmas, families looked forward to picking the perfect tree or wreath from Ronald and maybe even getting some of his famous honey or bread while they were there.
If his customers and friends couldn’t wait till Christmas for their Ronald Daniel favorites, Ronald could be found at the Market on Madison every Saturday morning where he sold his honey and bread, and his oh so wonderful pound cake and barbeque sauce. Ronald enjoyed his Saturdays in Downtown Dublin because it gave him the opportunity to do what he did best – make friends and love people. His heart for others will be greatly missed in our community.
A special thank you to all our friends and family for their loving care, support and prayers during Ronald’s illness. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home on Monday, July 23. Funeral services for Ronald will be officiated by Reverend Cecil Clegg, James Hughes, and Locke Wilford at Poplar Springs North Baptist Church Family Life Center, on Tuesday, July 24 at 11:00 AM.
Ronald will be laid to rest at Poplar Springs North Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Neal Clark, Chris Crawford, Josh Crawford, Don Elliott, Butch Hampton, Randy Hampton, Chad Harrison, Timmy Walker and several honorary pallbearers.
