Ronald E. Fisher, a native of Mobile, AL, and longtime Wausau resident, died at his home in Wausau on July 25, 2018. He was born on June 2, 1942 to Loyd and Marie (Hall) Fisher. After graduating from the University of Montevallo in 1965, he started working in Atlanta for Wausau Insurance, and moved to Wausau in 1972.

Ron retired from Wausau Insurance in 1999. Ron is survived by his family, Clare (Clarke) Fisher, Holly Fisher of Chicago, IL, Mike and Amy (Fisher) Sample of Needham,… Read More » MA, and Ronald Fisher, Jr. of Arden Hills, MN; daughters of the heart, Lisa Davidson of Bedford, TX and Sarah Farley of San Francisco, CA; sister, Becky (Bill) Blackburn, nieces Christine (Rob) McElroy and Tina (Jason) Frostholm and families, of Semmes, AL; in-laws, families of Bob and Barbara Clarke, Dennis and Johanna Clarke, Merton and Tess Matthews and Richard and Julia Buckley; plus, Granville Frey, Ed Kratochvill, Helen Guy, Sandy MacDougall, and Jane Frieburg; and the Wausau families of Paul and Joan Steinlage, Marty and Barb Mullen, Darrell and Katy Witt M.D.; golf and sheepdhead buddies, Don Grassl, Tom Murphy, Jim Hannes, Dave Smith, Bob Becker; and so many other treasured friends and work associates that made Wausau home. Ron was godfather to Colonel Brian Clarke (Ret.

), Tracy Drengberg, Kathy (Steinlage) Muller, and Courtney Mullen. Ron was a long-time baseball and football WIAA official. He was a former member of the Wausau Country Club, Wausau Curling Club, and American Legion Post 10.

On Sunday, August 5, 2018, please join the family from 3:00pm – 6:00pm at Bunkers, 1001 Golf Club Rd, Wausau, to toast to Ron’s memory. A Memorial Mass will be at 10:30am on Monday, August 6, 2018 at St. Michael, 611 Stark Street, Wausau, with Monsignor Mark Pierce officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30am until time of mass.

The burial will occur at a later date at St. Patrick’s cemetery in Mystic, CT. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Marathon County Youth Hockey Association, P.O. Box 176, Wausau, WI 54402. A special thanks to Dr. Ivan Schaller, Dr. Mark Hoffman, and the Aspirus Cardiology Clinic, especially Melissa Wendell, N.P. The family is grateful for the support and compassionate care Ron received from the Aspirus Hospice team.
