Ronald Earl Floyd, 85, of Marion, passed away at home on Thursday, March 14, 2019. Born on July 8, 1933, to the late Earl and Marguerite (Small) Floyd, Ron was a lifelong resident of Grant County. He married Mineva (Reece) Floyd on October 23, 1979, and she survives.

Ron graduated from Swayzee High School in 1951. He became a truck driver, working for Number One Beverage, Keith Sullivan Excavating, and also was co-owner of R&M Truck Leasing and M.J. Trucking, from where he retired in June of 2006. He attended Center Chapel United Methodist Church.

In the 60’s, he was a member of the Grasshopper Flying Club. He was also a big fan of Nascar Racing. In addition to his wife, Mineva, Ron is survived by his son, Michael (Cris) Floyd, Centerville; daughter, Teresa (Jan) Walters, Fort Wayne; two step-daughters, Deborah Gephart, Upland, and Kathy (Dave) Theising, North Aurora, IL; brother-in-law, Lee Orbik, Anderson; sisters-in-law, Virginia Boatwright, Betty (Dick) Kay, and Joan Reece, all of Marion; special friends, adopted by heart, Sid Chinai and Darryl Knotts; grandchildren, Amber (Dan) Walker, Batavia, IL, Angie (Scott) Rich, Lapel, Andrew (Samantha) Floyd, Richmond, Eric Floyd, Indianapolis, and Summer Ashley, Jeffersonville; nieces and nephews, Catherine (Craig) Yoder, Goshen, Virginia (John) Mansfield, Middlebury, Bill Reece, Marion, Travis Riddle, Anderson, Cheryl (Dan) Spencer, Upland, Rod (Donna) Boatwright, Marion, Don (Pam) Boatwright, Marion, Lori (Rick) Lampen, Bolivia, Bud (Lynda) Kay, Marion, Gary (Glenda) Streib, Marion; and many great-grandchildren and great-grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elizabeth Streib; sister-in-law, Rosalie Orbik; niece, Dixie Riddle; brothers-in-law, JR Reece and Paul Boatwright. Arrangements have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana, where a visitation will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place at Center Chapel United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Mark Sanders officiating. Entombment will take place at Grant Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Center Chapel UMC, 8733 East 200 South, Marion, Indiana 46953. The family would like to express special thanks to the First Responders, EMTs, Grant County Coroner, Sheriff’s Department Deputy, Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, and our neighbors for their special care and concern.
