Obituary for Ronald Edward Mills Ronald Edward Mills, 84, left this world December 14, 2018 to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ronald, passed away at the Missouri Veterans Home, in Warrensburg, Mo. Where he had resided since December 22, 2017.

His death was caused from Parkinson’s Disease, which he had for 10 plus years. Visitation will be held 6-8 pm on Wednesday, December 19th at the Community of Christ Church. 515 S. 1st Street in Odessa, Mo.

A short visitation we be held at 10am Thursday, December 20th at the church, with funeral service to follow at 10:30am. Burial will be approximately at 1pm at Mound Grove Cemetery. 1818 North River Blvd, Independence, Mo.

64050. Family requests donations be made to Preferred Hospice, of Lexington or The Community of Christ Church of Odessa in lieu of flowers. Ron was born on Mother’s Day, May 11, 1934 at Independence, Mo.

To William(Bill) F. Mills and Emma Fern (Kelsey) Mills, who preceded him in death. Ronald, graduated from William Chrisman High School, in 1952. He attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa and Central Missouri State in Warrensburg, Mo.

Ronald then took the 2-year college equivalency exam, to allow him to join the Airforce. In 1954 he enlisted in Pilot Officer training school. Ronald spent the next 20 years living his childhood dream of being a fighter pilot.

On January 31,1974 he retired from the military with an honorable discharge at the rank of Lt. Colonel. During his years of service, he spent four of them at the air base near Madrid, Spain.

While serving in Spain, he met and later married his first wife Carmen Ruiz on June 6, 1961. Upon returning to the states, he adopted Carmen’s son Ricardo Riuz Mills. While stationed at the Minot AFB, North Dakota for nine years, he served in the Vietnam War from 1968-1969.

He received many commendation’s, ribbon’ sand badge’s associated with the Vietnam War. Upon retirement from the Airforce, he moved to Springfield, Mo where he later met his current wife Susan Chapman Battles. They were married on April 14,1984.

On March 31, 1987 he became a dad when his only child Seritte(Seri) Helen Mills was born. Ronald was a fourth-generation member of the RLDS (Later Community of Christ Church) He was active in the Odessa Congregation from 1992 till he moved to the VA home. Ronald, was proceed in death by two uncles, three aunts and one cousin.

He is survived by, his wife, daughter of Kansas City, Mo. His sister, Joanne (Reginald) Stoner, three nephews, Gerald(Teresa) Stoner, Paul (Karin) Stoner and Jason(Sharon) Stoner. One special cousin Rae (Ed Sr.) Boehm with many other cousin’s as well.
