Obituary for Ronald LeRoy Christians Ronald L. Christians, age 74, of Lake City, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018, at Mayo Health System Lake City Hospital. Ron was born May 26, 1944, in Sibley, Iowa, to Manno and Angeline (Schroeder) Christians and he grew up Little Rock, Iowa. After his 8th grade year of school, they moved to the family farm in Herman, Minnesota, and he graduated from Herman High School in 1962.
During high school, he met his wife, Donna Hanson, and they were united in marriage on March 30, 1963, at the Herman United Methodist Church. Ron attended Interstate Business School in Fargo and began working in Agricultural Business, managing Elevators in Herman, Beaver Dam and Waseca. In 1976, they moved to Lake City, where he worked at Farmers Elevator and then the Plainview and Pine Island Elevators.
After his retirement, he worked part-time at the Lake City Golf Course. He was a member of United Methodist Church and the Lake City Golf Course. Ron loved to golf, woodwork, garden, and his early morning coffee group, but most of all he loved his grandchildren.
When he couldn’t be with his family, he was happiest at Menards, saving “big money”. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 55 years, Donna Christians of Lake City; 3 daughters-Lisa (Dan) Benson of North Mankato, Michele (Steve Brown) Fraser of Prescott, WI and Melissa (Reed Bjergo) Timmins of Inver Grove Heights; 9 grandchildren-Christa, Brendan, Kaitlyn, Erica, Katherine, Christian, Josh, Zach and Jordan; siblings, Douglas (Renee) Christians of Fargo, ND, Kathleen (Dave) Busenga of Herman and Sharon (Merle) Reiner of Bismarck, ND; a sister-in-law, Sandy Christians of Herman and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marlin Christians.
A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Lake City. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church.
