Ronald Richard Maddox February 25, 1949 – May 28, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Ronald Richard Maddox, 70, of McMillan, died Tuesday afternoon May 28, 2019 at Medilodge-Sault Ste. Marie. Born February 25, 1949 in Newberry, son of the late Nelson and Vera (Simmerman) Maddox, Ron was a 1968 graduate of Newberry High School.

On July 25, 1968, he enlisted in the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge on July 16, 1970 and continued in the Army Reserves until July 1, 1974. Ron was employed as an attendant nurse at the former Newberry Regional Mental Health Center until its’ closure and continued employment at D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette until his retirement moving back to McMillan. During his lifetime, Ron enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing, motorcycling and snowmobiling.

In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his children Nelson Maddox and Tina Sormunen; grandchild Cody Sormunen; siblings Larry Maddox and Judy Kalnbach. Survivors include his son Derrick; sister Barbara (Ron “Ludy”) Berry of Gould City; grandson Wyatt Sormunen; longtime companion Betty DeLong of Paradise; several nieces and nephews. Per his request, cremation services were accorded with no public services scheduled.

Interment will take place at the Columbus Township Cemetery in McMillan. Condolences may be expressed at www. beaulieufuneralhome.com.
